I hope you're enjoying the holiday season whether it's Christmas, Yule, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc!
Today is the Winter Solstice! While it marks the shortest amount of daylight each year, it also heralds the return of the sun. Each day from here on out gets longer.
It's a time to honor the dark period, as it's been a necessary component in this wheel of our life. There's always a balance of dark and light. To have light, you must also have the dark. And when we can cherish that as a thing of beauty, versus something we'll never get over; it moves us to the light much quicker. It can be a time of meditation and contemplation.
It's an exciting time symbolically. Winter Solstice heralds the the return of the light. If you're so inclined, it might be nice to do a little ritual to consciously shift your energy and intention. One I find really helpful is to identify those things that aren't serving me anymore, or that I want to let go of. Then I write them on individual strips of paper. I look at each one and ask if there's a good reason for me to hang onto this (the answer is no!) and then I burn each one; knowing it served it's purpose and it's time for it to go, and for me to move forward. It's a nice way to create some space on your hard drive, as it were, to delete the stuff that's taking up energetic space that you don't need. It's also a good time to write your "It's gonna be awesome WHEN" list. Writing a list of all the things you'd love to see come into your existence and start each thing with, "It's gonna be awesome WHEN ____". Then looking at each one individually and FEELING into your body what it's going to feel like when those things happen. What do you notice happening in your body? Under the umbrella of the Law of Attraction is the Law of Psychophysical Response, which basically says, for every thought the brain has, there is a reaction in the body. The more stress and hopelessness we have, that literally affects how our body produces. So we want to be having those excited, warm, loving thoughts, so that we have that reaction in the body.
Whatever resonates for you, find some way to mark this time and set your intention for the coming year.
